„The Exorcism of Emily Rose” is one of the most thrilling movies I have recently seen. It tells a story of a young girl who was suspected to have been possessed and died while being exorcised.
The movie focuses on the trial against a priest who was the exorcist and lead to Emily’s death. He believed Emily that she had seen devils. However, during the trial, medical experts present evidence that her death may have resulted from a combination of epilepsy and some kind of mental illness.
The battle between one of the doctors and the priest, or more precisely between their barristers, is so engaging that at one time we believe that the girl died because she had been possessed and the next moment we are conviced it was due to epilepsy.
What I like the best in that movie is the acting and the way each side presents their arguments in the process. I cannot remember the names of the lead actors but my favourite was the one who played the prosecution lawyer.
Most people who watched that movie say that it is very poor. However, I think it is mostly because they had expected it to be a blood-dripping horror as the title can be somewhat misleading. I am sure otherwise they would have liked it a lot more. I recommend „The Exorcism of Emily Rose” to everyone who likes thrilling movies.
