„Before this battle is over, the world will know that few stood against many” – this is the motto of a film I am lost in admiration for. „300”, directed by Zack Snyder, is an adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel. Ever since I saw the first trailer, I had been waiting for it to be released. I finally saw the film last week and I was speechless while watching this masterpiece of drama.
„300” is a compelling story of the Spartans, whose bravery and tradition forced them to stand up to the massive forces of Persia. The Spartans, led by King Leonidas and full of hatred, were certain of their victory over Xerxes and his army. Fearless, strong and invincible, Spartans were taught to never retreat or surrender. They believed that death on the battlefield, in service to their city, as the greatest glory they could ever achieve. Then there came the time when only 300 warriors fought a battle against the several times more numerous army of Xerxes, self-appointed as the god of gods. Whether the Spartans defeated their enemy or fell on the battlefield, you will find out after watching „300” or becoming acquainted with the history of the Battle of Thermopylae.
„300” is so gripping a film that 2 hours seemed to pass in the twinkling of an eye. I was absorbed by the whole story, the special effects and the music that enhanced the stunning fight scenes. This is definitely a film I recommend to anyone who can appreciate the talent of both producers and actors.
